What is Hypnobirthing?

Your body knows the way; your mind simply needs to be invited along for the journey. True birth preparation isn’t about checking boxes or packing the perfect bag—it’s about cultivating an inner stillness. Hypnobirthing is the art of softening the mind, releasing your fears and allowing the body to get on with the job of birthing your baby. It isn't about being "under a spell," but rather learning how to get out of your own way so your body can follow its natural rhythm. It is about shifting from a place of uncertainty to a state of profound trust.

As a midwife, I’ve seen that the most powerful tool a person can bring into the birthing space isn't something you can buy; it is the ability to remain anchored within yourself.

Join me for a day of discovery as we explore the bridge between your mind and your body. We’ll keep the deeper secrets for our time together at the retreat, but you will leave understanding how to work with your flow, staying grounded and expansive no matter how your baby chooses to arrive.

Hypnobirthing is a mind-body practice focused on releasing fear-based tension and optimizing the body’s physiological response. It prioritizes the use of breathwork and evidence-based comfort measures to facilitate a calm, empowered, and highly supported birth experience.

The  evidence for the efficiency of hypnobirthing as a tool in labour shows its ability to break the "Fear-Tension-Pain" cycle. By training the brain to stay in a parasympathetic state (rest and digest), mothers report significantly higher birth satisfaction and lower levels of birth-related trauma.

The data consistently shows a lower reliance on pharmacological pain relief (like epidurals) and a higher rate of spontaneous vaginal births. It is also linked to shorter labour length because the muscles can work without being constricted by stress hormones (adrenaline).

Babies often have higher APGAR scores and better initial breastfeeding success. For the mother, the "adrenal crash" is often minimized, which is linked to a lower risk of postpartum depression and a faster physical bounce-back.
